About Me

Hey I'm Hillary.

I was born in California to a dad who was a Marine and a mom who is an artist. I spent the first 18 years of my life moving across the country only to settle in Michigan (my parents' home state) for college. I attended Michigan State University where I earned my BA in Linguistics.

I took a post-grad "gap year" to work retail management and figure out what the hell I wanted to do with my life. Two things happened that year: I realized I wanted to work in higher education and I met my husband.

Administration, I worked briefly for UM as an Admission Counselor before getting hired at Kalamazoo College, also in admission. Almost 11 years later, I'm an Associate Director of Admission for Kalamazoo College and the sitting President of the Michigan Association for College Admission Counseling (until March 2016). I've grown TREMENDOUSLY as a professional in the last 11 years, and I owe it to my colleagues at K and at MACAC.

In that time I've also become a mom to two boys, Graham (born April 2011) and Emmett (born October 2014) who are clever, determined, opinionated, strong, spirited, handsome little men. Being a mom is by far the HARDEST thing I've ever done. The struggle is real!

In January 2016 I joined Team Beachbody as an extension of my passion for fitness and wellness (read my Beachbody page for more info). This is a passion that has developed after years of cultivation starting from almost a hatred of fitness to now a daily requirement to maintain not only physical health but my mental wellbeing.

I'm an avid chef and baker, a recreational runner, a yogi, an all-around wellness enthusiast, a craft beer drinker, an arts-and-craft-er, an organizer, a planner, and a woman who generally wants to do all of the things.
