I like road trips

Jeff and I took a much needed trip up north to Traverse City. The first trip to Traverse City that wasn't a pre-season retreat. As much as I enjoy hanging with the guys, and tuning out all of the repetitive football talk by reading a good book, I was very excited to have a vacation with just my husband. We did a lot of driving, crossed off a few more breweries, Jeff met my Uncle Tom and Aunt Pam for the first time and we generally just had a relaxing trip. I was sad to come home and back to work :( But so grateful for the time away!

Our brewery assesments: Jamesport Brewery in Ludington was a very pleasant surprise. Food was tasty and reasonably priced, and the beers were very good. Jeff had an IPA (of course) and I had a hefeweizen, which was quite tasty. Not overly sweet, which I like.

Right Brain has some interesting brews (for example, I had a blonde ale with honey and basil). It's in a weird location (the warehouse district in the same door as a salon), which was kind of cool. But the acoustics of the room made it VERY loud. Like, obnoxiously loud for the number of people who were there. Beers were expensive. And if you wanted snacks you had to buy way overpriced bagged popcorn.

Shorts Brewing was the best. Located on the main drag in Bellaire. Jeff passed it first (I was napping) because if you blink, you miss it. Nice ambience, decent food options (though we didn't eat there) and excellent beer. A little bit of a drive from TC, but well worth it.

Jeff happy at Shorts!

One of the best Brown Ales ever tasted.
